Master Dennis McCown

Master McCown began studying Shotokan Karate in Septeber of 1966. After training with Michael Ausbon and Gerald Giles, he received his Shodan, (1st degree), from C.E. Morris. In November of 1997, Master McCown was awarded his Master's Certificate under the direction of Master Don Gober. A special demonstration was presented by Master D.J. Sias in honor of this memorable event.

Master McCown has been the instructor of karate for the Mississippi University for Women, The Governor's School for Math and Science, and has done seminars for the Columbus Police Dept.

Master McCown is currently the chairman of the Board for the Columbus Karate Association, Chief Instructor for the Columbus YMCA, and a personal karate trainer at his private dojo located in his home.

Master McCown's professional affiliations have included, the Dixie National Karate Assn., The United States Karate Assn., Mississippi Karate Assn., The Southern American Karate Assn., United American Karate Assn., The Professional Karate Assn., Mississippi Shotokan Karate Assn. (Charter Member), and The United States Karate Alliance.
