The Sho kon Ryu Martial Arts Academy along with the Mississippi Adonai Sports ministries, Incorporated islocated at 103 West Madison Street in Houston, Mississippi. The Academy has life time memberships in the United States martial Arts Association and Adonai Sports Ministries. Dr. Tommy Skelton is the chief instructor and an ordained youth sports minister. He holds the rank of Grandmaster 10th Dan and the title of Soke and he is an internationally certified Self Defense Instructor. In 2003, Dr. Skelton was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Association's Hall of Fame for development of military defense tactics.

The Academy teaches youth, adults and various self defense programs. We work with youth from all walks of life including those considered at risk. in addition to rank advancement, students study sparring, kata, and weapons forms for competition.

Sho Kon Ryu is dedicated to the martial arts belief that in order to master any situation, you must first master yourself. Courage, Honor, Dedication, and Spirit are the cornerstones that build life values. One will develop Courage to face adversity and do the right thing. Honor to ones faith, self, family, and country. Dedication to all things in life, for only dedicating yourself to the situation or task can you succeed in life and Spirit in all you do, and in all you believe in.

The martial arts is a duel action. Individually you reach for your goal. Only you can do that, no one can do it for you. As a martial artist, you are part of the school "team", seeking to help and giving help. One must over come the challenges that you meet in the dojo as well as in life. What you learn in the martial arts can be applied to every walk of life you will encounter.

We are a faith based martial arts ministry and welcome all denominations of the Christian faith. It is our purpose to instill the necessary core values of God, Country, Self, and Family. We do not press our Christian beliefs on anyone and our martial arts instruction is open to anyone desiring to learn.
